Checkin' Out

So the school calls, Little DX has walked himself to the office and has proclaimed that his throat hurts. The secretary says "He does not have fever, do you what to come get him or bring him some medicine".
Uh this sounds like an ultimatum. So I tell her he probably has a sinus infection, I will bring him something for a sore throat.

I leave work go into the next town and stop at Wal-Mart to get some non medicated sore throat strips. And drive to the next town to bring it to school. They call him back to the office and I look at him and ask what is wrong?

LDX- I don't know
Me- Why am I here?
LDX- I don't know
Me- I left work to come see about you and you have no idea why I am here? Did you come to the office and tell them that your throat hurt?
LDX- yeah, can you check me out?
Me- Where did you hear that from, Who checked out?
LDX- me, I want to check out?
Me- who checked out that you would want to check out, or even know about checking out?
LDX- nobody
Me- you are not checkin out

I gave him the sore throat strip, which he said was very nasty. (I had tried one, it was nasty! sour! yukk!).
I told him to go get some water and get back to class.

How does a 5 year old know how to dream up a story in order to check out?

Boy oh Boy!
