"The Wrath of Gustav on Plaquemine"

I hope this finds everyone well. We received power on Tuesday morning after being mauled by Gustav. Our neighborhood looks like a tarp city. We received minimal damage: our fence decided to lay down and take a nap in the neighbors yard and our trees up front decided to lay down in the road. (As this picture shown from my dining room window.)

Good thing we re-shingled our roof last year, we are almost the only house that did not receive roof damage. We were not spared by the flying shingles. (The below picture is my neighbors roof, taken from my kitchen window.) They scratched our vehicles in multiple areas. We made it and that is what counts.

My niece lost part of the roof on her trailer. They quickly placed a tarp over it and held the ceiling up on the inside with 2x4's. It was a sight. The water was still dripping three days later when we stopped by. She was heartbroken. Thankfully here Father and Grandfather could rebuild it.

Bayou Plaquemine was the worst I had seen. There were many homes with trees through them and many had there roof just ripped off and we even captured a flipin trailer. It is really heartbreaking. My neighbor hood was nothing compared to what you are about to see.

I'm glad you made it. I'm also glad you housed us since you had a generator. I'm also glad I got to leave and come home because grandma was working us to death.

Those photos are heartbreaking. The storm didn't do too much damage here, but I did see one house and car smashed by a tree. I can't imagine seeing hundreds.
